This year we had a few snowfalls, and when it didn’t snow, the temperatures went down to -15, -20 C. For the past few years it seemed like winter was avoiding us, but not his time. It reminds me of winters when I was young, when we couldn’t wait for fresh snow to go outside and play.

Mia is now 18 months and boy, is she ever growing?:) She repeats pretty much everything we say now, she responds to questions, and she even tries to put sentences together. Of course not everything she says is easy to understand to the untrained ear, but we have practice:) She spends her weekdays now with her little friend Dani. She likes to tease him and he runs after her:) They’re so much fun for mommy Mindy! Everyday brings something new and our life is so wonderful and fun!

Mia’s had her 1st haircut as well, and she’s now pretty much due for another one soon. We went to the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY and we spent most of our weekends so far with family and friends. Now Mindy’s getting ready to fly to Edmonton for her friend Sukhjinder’s wedding. Mia and I will get to spend the weekend together back here in Toronto. it should be lots of fun, I’m looking forward to it.

Enjoy some of the pictures we took this year and we’ll be back soon!

We had such a wonderful time, even though we took turns at being sick:) We spent a few days at gramie’s farm enjoying the winter wonderland out there. While out there, we visited the 1st Romanian church in Canada, St Mary in Bojan. Bojan is the 1st Romanian settlement in Canada...15 minutes away from the farm...We spent New Year’s at grandma and grandpa’s house in Edmonton, dancing and watching stand-up comedy until the early hours of the morning. Lots of times we just hanged around, relaxing, playing with Mia, reading about the universe, visiting, enjoying the wood fireplace.

Enjoy some of the pictures we took.

It has been a while since we’ve updated our pictures and blog and I’m not sure we actually have a good reason for it. I guess it’s like anything else in life, if you get out of a routine, it’s hard to get back into it. And also like everything else, once the novelty wears off, it’s not as motivating anymore, you’re looking for the next best thing:) Well, all we’re saying is, we’re just like the rest of you, human.

Mia has been growing steadily. She’s now practically running around, talking with us (in her own language), understanding more and more. She says things like (in order of frequency): mama, ho ho ho (when she sees santa or anything christmas related), nu (no), ball, tata, toe, shoe, de ce? (why?), etc. She is just so wonderful, a continuous source of energy and fun. Reading is still one of her favorite activities (David and Maisy books are at the top of her charts:)

The end of October meant Mia’s 2nd Halloween and mommy sewed for her such a cute lion outfit (she is a Leo after all:) You should have seen her all dressed up and running around...mommy was so proud. She turned a lot of heads and you’ll know why when you see the pictures.

She also recently spent her first weekend away from mommy and daddy. Mindy and I were downtown for the Grey Cup weekend (Canadian Superbowl for those of you outside of Canada) and Mia stayed with bunica and bunicu. She was just fine until she got home. Then all she wanted was to be held for a few days...I guess she missed us as much as we missed her. But getaways as a couple are needed too sometimes. We had a blast at all of the parties (one with the Barenaked Ladies) and to experience the game, half-time show with Lenny Kravitz, and the Saskatchewan fans...priceless!

Grandma and grandpa from Edmonton visited us twice, once on their way to Florida, and then on their way to Italy. And they’ll be here again before you know it....back from Italy and on their way to Edmonton, this time taking Mia and Mindy along. It’s been a treat to have them around so many times, it doesn’t happen too often.

Christmas is just around the corner. We’re almost done our shopping, we’re writing our cards, going to Christmas parties, and soon we’ll be getting ready to all go to Edmonton. Mia and Mindy will leave on Dec 15th, I’ll follow on the 22nd. By the time we get back, we’ll be in 2008 full of hopes and dreams for the new year!

Happy Holidays everyone! We love you all and we wish you a joyful holiday season. Stay surrounded by family and friends, there’s nothing better in the world.

Our Vacation in the French Riviera

We spent two wonderful weeks in the French Riviera at the beginning of September. We rented a studio in St Raphael, a little town on the coast, half way between Cannes and St Tropez. The weather was just great, mid to high 20’s and the beaches were not crowded at all. This time of the year was just perfect.

Mia had a bit of a hard time adjusting to the time difference (6 hours) and it didn’t help that she was teething at the same time. So our first two nights we were either walking the streets or playing with Mia until 3am:) We spent out 1st week with our friends Radu, Carla, and little Lara who came from Switzerland. Lara is just a few months younger than Mia and the two of them had so much fun playing together. We all went for a boat ride on our 2nd day and what a mistake that was...rough waters and crazy sailors, the perfect combination of me (Bogdan) getting sick and the rest of the crew barely hanging in:)

Our studio had a nice view of the sea, so we spent most of our evenings on the balcony BBQing, eating cheese, and sipping French wine (so cheap there...$5-6CAD for a bottle Bordeaux). We went to the beach almost every morning and afternoon and we used lunch time to rest, travel to nearby towns, or walk the streets. We soaked up the sun on the beaches in St Raphael, Boulouris, Cannes, Theoule Sur Mer, Cogolin, St Tropez, and Frejus; we walked through the old town in Nice, and St Tropez; and we visited the Molinard perfumery in the world capital of perfumes, Grasse. We rented a little Fiat Panda and we traveled the entire coast between Cannes and St Tropez...beautiful scenery with the sea on one side and dark red rocky hills on the other.

Mia had so much fun at the beach. She was a bit afraid of the water in the beginning, but as the days passed, she played more and more in the waves. She also enjoyed Lara’s inflatable boat, where the water couldn't touch her...unless mommy and daddy made sure some salty water made it in the boat:) All said and done, we had a great time. We got a chance to see old friends and see new places! We can’t wait to do it all over again.

Enjoy the pictures!
